Soil

Soil research at QEERI focuses on the development of a new paradigm for soil system characterization and modeling. Specifically, the research focuses on linking the interactions between soil and water in the soil through a new concept: hydrostructural pedology.

Moreover, other areas of soil research in the institute are:

  • Studying the distribution of major and minor elements in the soil of Qatar
  • Studying the natural and anthropogenic impacts on soil quality
  • Studying the impacts of traffic and transpiration network on soil quality
  • Studying the soil/water interaction and leaching processes in the arid environment
  • Studying the potential use of storm water and runoff water using sand filters
  • Identification and mapping soil minerals and texture in Qatar
